The Awakened at Holliswood™ Program uses lifelong learning as the key to an innovative new approach that is changing the lives of patients suffering with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
The Awakened Program takes place every weekday and is run by a team that includes recreation, dietary, nursing, psychology, therapy and housekeeping. Residents are gathered in the morning and brought to a central location right after breakfast. Their day is then modeled on something that even most Alzheimer’s patients can recall — elementary school. The structure of the day that includes recalling, learning, singing and other appropriate social interactions, exercise, communal dining, and more occupies the residents for 6 – 7 hours each day. The results of this program are nothing short of marvelous. Watch a brief video on the Awakened program below and hear from staffers and the residents themselves.
