Notes from Jean at Delightful Repast
The winner of our first ever Good Health, Great Taste! recipe contest is a zesty Eastern European dish,
Georgian Garlic Chicken (Chkmeruli)
. Georgia’s cuisine is known for its garlic, and this dish is no exception. With 10 cloves of garlic for 3 1/2 pounds of chicken, well, let’s say, it isn’t called Garlic Chicken for nothing!
Though the recipe calls for a whole cut-up chicken, we found that the chicken thighs were the most delectable and would recommend making the recipe with all thighs. There is plenty of buttery garlic sauce, so serve it with grits, potatoes or rice, along with good crusty bread, to soak up the sauce. Any leftover sauce can be used the next day for stir-frying or sautéing.
Thank you to all who entered, and congratulations to our winner. We cannot wait to see the next round of Good Health, Great Taste! entries.
