Jody Mortellite: Employee of the Month
May is National Better Speech and Hearing Month and with nearly 50 skilled nursing facilities in their bandwidth throughout the northeast and Midwest, Centers Health Care and Sigma Rehab Health are selecting a speech therapist each week in May as their Speech Therapist of the Month. The first week is going to Hammonton Center Speech Language Pathologist Jody Mortellite. Ms. Mortellite has been working at the building for thirteen years and she is well-loved by her patients and fellow colleagues in rehabilitation. Jody is a graduate of Towson University and when asked what inspired her to become a speech therapist, is that she always wanted to help others and have flexibility.
Jody says that the most rewarding part of her job is helping her patients get their Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube and trach tubes removed. She’s always educating families, patients, and staff with regard to swallowing guidelines and strategies. Ms. Mortellite says it’s key to stay connected to her patients afterward to make sure they are still doing their strategies and getting proper diet consistency.
