Suffolk Center Enjoys End-of-summer Luau

Residents, staff and some family members had a great time on Wednesday, Aug. 18, as Suffolk Center, the 120 bed nursing and rehabilitation facility on Schoenfeld Boulevard in Patchogue, had a fun, end-of-summer backyard luau. More than 30 enjoyed drinking fruit punch, having hot food including chicken, ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers, while dressed in Hawaiian Ieis and enjoying a beautiful summer afternoon. Some of the residents decided to play cards, while others listened to Hawaiian music, the sounds of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole and other Islander music.

“The residents love when we have our luau parties,” said Casey Quinn, recreation director at Suffolk Center. “We have been planning this for a long time
and we’re so happy the weather held up; it’s been a hot and wet summer.”
