Before Richmond Center joined the Centers Health Care family, it was originally a religious home known as St. Elizabeth’s, a long standing member of the healthcare community. St. Elizabeth's joined the Centers Health Care family as Richmond Center in 2012 when the facility could no longer support itself. Since then, the new Richmond Center began a program of expansion based on becoming a specialty care provider proudly serving the Greater New York City area. We focused our efforts on provided the care long-term and short-term residents needed while remaining close to home and family. Richmond Center's Adult Day Health Care facility was opened to provide for the needs of those suffering from mental illness often associated with HIV/AIDS. The campus was expanded with the acquisition of a building from Bayley Seton hospital which became the home of our neuro-psych unit, and a state of the art, 28-bed ventilator unit was created.
Today the history of the Richmond Center is still being written. A brand new, industry-leading physical therapy suite has just opened with the very latest in equipment and protocols, and we have doubled the size of the neuro-psych unit and added a world-class Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) recovery center.
The central facility has been upgraded with new resident rooms and common areas. We've added a fleet of custom outfitted vans to aid in the transportation of day care members, carrying residents to outside medical appointments or on scheduled outings, and picking up resident’s family members who have no other way to get here for a visit.
Today we are living up to our original promise to the people of Staten Island, to keep a world class facility in the heart of the community and to deliver the finest in health care and service.
