Centers Goes Back to School … Sort of!

Bronx, NY - October 26, 2015

Another load of Centers Notebooks arrive at school

Centers Health Care was back in school recently.  In fact, we were back in lots of schools, all across upstate New York and New Jersey.  Twelve of our facilities were supplied with wide-ruled notebooks, pens and pencils which facility staff distributed to local elementary schools.  The schools in turn passed them out to needy students.   More than 2,500 students will receive notebooks, pens and pencils through this program.  Marc Zharnest managed the program for Centers:  “We run rehabilitation and nursing homes, but so much of what we do is about being part of the community.  We have hundreds of parents and grandparents – long-time community members – who now make their homes with us, so being part of the community outside of the facility is important to them and that makes it important to us.”

Tina Cook, Center’s regional director of admissions & marketing for the Finger lakes region personally delivered several cases of school supplies.  “The looks on the children’s faces were great.  They loved the idea that they were getting something free, but let’s face it, it was school books.  The people whose faces really lit up were the school administrators and teachers.  They’re the ones who struggle every day to make sure every student has what they need to get the most from their education.  For them it was a real blessing.”
