Martine Center Seniors Night
During the last week of July, residents at Martine Center, the 200-bed skilled nursing facility on Tibbits Avenue, enjoyed the annual Senior Night Out at Martine Center in the facility’s spacious event lobby, thanks to the facility’s leadership and Recreation Department. Along with a DJ and a photo booth, residents enjoyed a summer BBQ feast include hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, watermelon and various soft drinks. The main theme of this year’s Senior Night Out at Martine Center was the theme “Care That Moves You”, where Centers Health Care leadership continued the fight against resident loneliness and isolation by assembling the residents together to enjoy each other’s company with each other and with the staff. “Care That Moves You” is also directed towards rehabilitation therapy as “movement” leads to quicker recovery for short-term residents as the goal is to get better and go home.

The goal is not exactly the same for everyone. It may be returning home, becoming stronger, staying independent or simply feeling better and more comfortable from one day to the next. There will be progress, setbacks and difficult days along the way. Our job is to be there through all of it, and to help each patient or resident get as far as he or she can.
Sometimes that progress comes in large steps. More often, it comes in small ones. Either way, every step matters.
