Center Health Care donates to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY)— As part of their 27th anniversary, Center Health Care donated $2700 to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. This donation is expected to go towards the Food Banks’s annual fund to help provide food for families in the Food Bank Service areas.
” I think it is great that they gave us a choice of who we would like to see that money go to. I think it is wonderful that the Health Care wants to stand up as an organization and say we’re here for you, ” said Shannon Robertson- the Director of Recreation at Corning Center Health Care.
The Center Health Care provides skilled nursing, rehabilitation and senior care. Shannon Robertson said that people struggling with food security, rising food price and higher unemployment rates pushed the decision for the check to be donated to the Food Bank.
”Having the Corning Center come here today and give us this wonderful check means a lot. We weren’t expecting it. It is a wonderful surprise to start the week and we thank them very much for it, ” said Mary Jane Bray- the Major Giving Officer at the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
