Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

[L-R: Residents Carmen Rosario, Susan Silverstein, Mary Burton, and Deb Stoutenger are all having a great time.]

A little more than three years ago, skilled nursing facilities throughout the country shut their doors to visitors due to the onset of COVID-19, and this decision was made with the best intentions to keep the most vulnerable population safe from the virus. The 440-bed Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on James Street in Syracuse was no different, and the leadership at the facility had only one thing on its mind: keeping COVID out of the building. In 2023, the facility celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in a big way, and the residents loved it.

The Recreation team, directed by Tammy Shoales, made sure that the residents had a full-blown authentic holiday by having the kitchen staff offer delicious corned beef and cabbage for dinner, followed by a Shamrocks shakes party that both residents and staff enjoyed immensely. Everyone was feeling the luck of the Irish this year.
