Chanukah at Northern Riverview
On December 5, the second to last day of Chanukah 2021, Northern Riverview in Haverstraw continued their week-long celebration of the Festival of Lights holiday as they let the light of happiness illuminate with a fun-filled Chanukah party. The facility completed Chanukah-themed coloring pages for the residents in the morning, and later met in the dining room for their Chanukah party. The Recreation Department, led by Lori Silverstein, started with exercising to Jewish music, and then moved on to various games including completing missing letters to figure out the Chanukah related words. A scavenger hunt was next with residents searching the room to find the hidden gelt (a.k.a, chocolate coins). Then it was time to play hot dreidel, a spinoff of the hot potato game, where they passed around a ball and when the Jewish music stopped, the idea was not holding it or you were out! Finally, the residents enjoyed a bag of chips and a delicious chocolate cake! Fun was had by all! Here, Northern Riverview residents Sheila Kaminsky, 83, loves her chocolate cake, as is the same with 99 year-old war veteran Jack Baum.
