Glens Falls Center Rachel Turns 90!

Rachel Turns 90! On Thursday, April 29, Glens Falls Center in Glens Falls, New York, held a celebration for a popular resident Rachel Ann Caunitz Smith who turned the big 90! Born on April 29, 1931 in Kingston, New York to Lester & Miriam Caunitz, Queensbury’s Rachel Ann Caunitz Smith graduated from Kingston High School and enrolled in the Nursing Program at Albany Medical School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. She worked briefly at Benedictine before moving to Cohoes, NY and then started her 37 year career at Albany Medical Center. Rachel spent her summers in Phoenicia, NY in a log home & developed her love for the outdoors year round. She was an avid downhill & cross country skier at many local ski resorts in the Northeast. And Ms. Smith loved to camp all over the Adirondacks and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, tending to her cats and taking trips to Maine. Rachel has one son, Jonathan, who she raised as a single mom. She also has her step-brother, Fred (Billy) Sievers and his extended family who are made up of five grandchildren (Jason, Caitlin, Josh, Liam and Gabe), plus two great grandchildren (Natalie and Caden) and numerous nieces & nephews.
