Glens Falls Center Welcomes Singer Laura Collins To Perform For The Residents

On Friday, June 18, local Malta musician, singer, songwriter and composer, Laura Melanie Collins visited and played for the residents at Glens Falls Center on Sherman Avenue to throw the first live music performance, post-COVID-19 pandemic. The residents loved it and, according to Marijo Natale, Recreation Director, it really feels now that things are so close to normal again. Ms. Collins, who played in New York City originally, moved out west to Denver and Northern New Mexico to play for music lovers out west. A few years later she returned to New York State but settled in the Capital and Adirondacks region. She plays everything from early American Standards to 50s, 60s and 70s feel good rock and show tunes. She developed a program called “Singing With Seniors” where it was born out of Laura’s time with her mother, who was her biggest musical influence during her last months in a nursing home. She is currently giving musical programs at over 75 facilities throughout NY and Vermont.
