October Celebrations: Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center’s Therapy Department Hosts Events and Educational Sessions in Honor of Physical Therapy Month
In recognition of October being Physical Therapy (PT) Month, the Rehabilitation Department at Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on James Street in downtown Syracuse has had several events and programs geared towards the residents, their families, and the community, as well as recognitions and educational sessions for the rehab staff. Earlier in the month, the Therapy Department at the 440-bed skilled nursing facility conducted an Open Door Tour of the rehab gym for families and the community. On another day, there were weekly exercise classes for residents that were hosted by therapy staff.
Then on October 11, the Therapy Department hosted a facility-wide educational roundtable event (see photos) that was open to all staff where they provided insight on topics such as range of motion, splints and braces, dementia, safe transferring, modalities, pain management, and other topics for their staff to learn and discover an increase skill set. The roundtable was so popular, that the rehab team scheduled another one on October 25.
