Sigma Rehab Health, Centers Health Care, and Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation announces Thomas Joseph Kubat Employee of the Month
Sigma Rehab Health, Centers Health Care, and Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Sayville have named the highly-liked occupational therapist Thomas Joseph Kubat as the April 2023 Employee of the Week. Mr. Kubat, who has been at the 180-bed, five-star skilled nursing facility on Broadway Avenue in Sayville for four years, is admired by both the residents he treats and his fellow colleagues. He became a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) at Suffolk County Community College and an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) at Hofstra University.
When asked what inspired him to become an occupational therapist, Thomas Kubat says happily that he could use his best strengths and abilities to help others. This would include problem-solving and the ability to communicate with other people, especially the older generation. He also says that he was close with his family elders, and because of this, he gained experience relating to the clientele he works with today at the nursing home. Thomas also attributes his ability to communicate with family members in an empathetic manner to his handicapped mother.
“If you treat every patient like family, you can never go wrong,” said Kubat. “Show them courtesy and respect. Be willing to learn from them, because they did not live this long without acquiring knowledge that you may need and can even use to assist others.”
