Slate Valley Center residents get “Inked and Boozed”
On March 29, the Recreation Department at Slate Valley Center in Granville had an activity that sparked the entire resident community at the 88-bed skilled nursing facility. It was called “Ink and Drinks,” whereby the residents enjoyed their most favorite non-alcoholic drinks such as Pina Coladas, Strawberry Daiquiris, and Miami Vices (Virgin). At the same time, residents picked out their favorite tattoos from a whiteboard and decided where they would apply them—to their arms or shoulders. “This was something very different and turned out to be a really fun activity,” said Activity Director Andrea Kelley. “So many folks got to enjoy the look of a tattoo without the pain or commitment; what’s better than that?” Afterward, everyone had fun showing each other what they got.
