WENY-TV Corning Center Juneteenth Celebration
Corning Center on East First Street in Corning had a fun and educational celebration on June 19 for the Juneteenth holiday. The residents at the 120-bed skilled nursing facility learned about the freeing of the slaves when President Lincoln put forth the Emancipation Proclamation, and finally, two years later, the last of the slaves were free in Texas. Residents also enjoyed the hot summer-like day with delicious sundaes made by the Recreation Department. WENY TV News
