We are committed to getting our pulmonary rehab patients back to regular, daily living. Our team of doctors, nurses, therapists, educators and on-site staff provide caring and expert support.
A multidisciplinary team of specialists in pulmonary rehab provide individualized care—a commitment to collaboration that ensures the treatment plan meets the specific needs and all aspects of the patient’s condition.
We have successfully treated patients recovering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, asthma, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, COPD/emphysema, lung cancer, pneumonia, pulmonary effusion, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, shortness of breath, and sleep disorders.
Throughout the therapy, patients learn more effective breathing techniques and exercises to help them stay fit. Team members instruct them about proper nutrition, and how to undertake activities for daily living, such as cooking and cleaning, in ways that don’t compromise breathing.
When Rick was admitted to Wichita Center, he could hardly breathe. He was suffering from respiratory failure, and in addition to his trouble breathing, he was extremely tired, his blood pressure very low. He was also experiencing periods of confusion.
The team at Wichita Center created an action plan for him and had him in therapy within 24 hours of his arrival. Physical therapists worked to make him stronger, the medical team oversaw his medication, and social workers met with him daily.
“Thanks to the folks at Wichita Center, the oxygen is flowing smoothly through my lungs and into my bloodstream. Thanks for taking care of me, and giving me my breath back.”
