Memorial Day at Slate Valley Center
On Memorial Day, Slate Valley Center in Granville welcomed Mr. Butch Hurlburt and the crew from VFW Post #1653. They hosted a Memorial Day honors celebration for the residents at the 88-bed skilled nursing facility in Granville, NY. A beautiful poem was read by Doris Eva Madison from the facility, and they honored their veterans who have since passed. Leadership and the VFW encouraged the group to talk about their lost friends or family and what Memorial Day means to them. The service ended with a moment of silence for our fallen soldiers and a piece of patriotic music. Following the ceremony, residents enjoyed fun country music from The Old Friend’s Band.
