Morning Flight Benefits

It’s been a tumultuous summer of travel in the United States, as some days have gone by where the flights canceled reached into the thousands. In fact, more flights were canceled in the first seven months of 2022 than in all of 2021.

Along with unpredictable severe weather, staff shortages and an increase in travel coming off the COVID-19 pandemic have also caused the challenges airlines are facing.

In response, flight experts say that you should travel in the morning in order to give yourself the best chance of getting to your destination in a timely fashion.

Centers Health Care looks at four reasons why you should book a morning flight.

  1. Fewer Storms, Less Turbulence

Most thunderstorms, especially during the summer months, take place in the afternoon and early evening hours. By traveling in the morning, you can give yourself a better chance that weather won’t delay your flight and potentially have a smoother ride, as storms on the ground usually mean more turbulence in the skies.

  1. Less Delays Due to Chain Reaction

Each day typically starts with a clean slate, but as the day wears on and delays build, those can have chain reactions on departures set for later in the day, causing delays as the schedule needs to be adjusted.

  1. Cheaper Flights

Data shows that flights departing before 9 a.m. tend to be cheaper than any other time of day. The inconvenience of having to wake up early can lead to big savings, so it might be worth that early wake-up call.

  1. On-Board Benefits

If your flight is one of the first of the day, that means that you will have a fresh crew and a cleaner airplane.
