When considering a long-term care facility for your loved one, one of the most critical factors to evaluate is the quality of nutrition provided. Our system, Centers Health Care, prioritizes meal programs crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure residents receive the best possible nutrition. And we work hard to maintain a consistent standard across our 45 facilities throughout the Northeast. Our approach is rooted in the belief that food is more than sustenance for our residents—it’s a way to connect, heal and thrive.

Fresh Ingredients, Tailored Menus

As the Corporate Director Food & Nutrition, I work to uphold our system’s stance that fresh ingredients make a difference. From vibrant vegetables to lean proteins, our meals are prepared to retain maximum flavor and nutritional value. Our culinary teams work closely with registered dietitians to create menus that cater to a variety of dietary needs, including low-sodium, diabetic diet, heart-healthy, vegetarian and low-cholesterol options. We understand that dietary preferences and restrictions are deeply personal, which is why we customize menus not only for individual needs but also to reflect regional tastes and traditions, whenever possible. Whether it’s chipped beef sandwiches for upstate or special holiday dinners throughout our facilities, we aim to make every meal a delightful experience.

Comprehensive Nutritional Assessments

From the moment a resident is admitted, we take a proactive approach to their health. Every individual over 65 undergoes a thorough assessment for dehydration, malnutrition and occupational therapy (OT) needs. Additionally, tools like the Mini Nutrition Assessment (MNA) and Malnutrition Assessment help us identify risks early and tailor interventions accordingly. We also use advanced technology, such as Diet Tech, to track nutritional needs in real time, ensuring that every resident receives personalized care.

An Interdisciplinary Approach to Nutrition

Nutrition is a team effort. Our registered dietitians collaborate closely with social workers, nurses, therapists and other members of the care team to address the unique needs of each resident. This interdisciplinary approach ensures that nutritional support is seamlessly integrated into overall care plans.

Celebrating the 2025 Nutrition Month Theme: “Food Connects Us”

This year’s Nutrition Month theme, “Food Connects Us,” resonates deeply with our philosophy. Mealtimes are more than just an opportunity to nourish the body—they’re a chance to build community and foster connections. Our dining rooms are designed to be welcoming spaces where residents can share stories, celebrate traditions and enjoy the company of others. We also host themed meals and cultural celebrations to bring residents together and create memorable experiences.

Peace of Mind for Families

Our commitment to fresh, nutritious meals and personalized care ensures that your loved one’s health and well-being are in good hands. By prioritizing nutrition and fostering a sense of community, we aim to enhance not only longevity but also the quality of life for every resident.

When you choose Centers Health Care, you’re choosing a place where food connects us, where every meal is crafted with care, and where your loved one’s nutritional needs are met with expertise and compassion.
