US Marine Veteran Speaks at Riverview
On Veterans Day this year, Northern Riverview Healthcare Center in Haverstraw welcomed US Marine Veteran John Murphy, one of the founders of Rockland Homes For Heroes (RHFH) based in New City, New York. Mr. Murphy spoke passionately and with strength of what it was like to serve in the military like he did 70 years ago how the people who serve our country must always be respected and that no one should undermine the love they have for our country.
Ten years ago, housing began for homeless veterans in the Mid-Hudson area, thanks to the people of RHFH. The organization built eight supported housing units, plus a community center, garden, and recreational area on the six-acre grounds of the former location of Camp Shanks in Orangetown.
