Why We’re Especially Proud of Our Stroke Rehabilitation Certification During Stroke Awareness Month

Last year, Boro Park Center became the first — and remains the only — comprehensive rehabilitation center in New York state to earn the Skilled Nursing Facility Stroke Rehabilitation Certification from the American Heart Association. This certification is only given to the facilities that have proven to have the best patient and caregiver education and support, care coordination and clinical management.

Why Is This Certification Important for Boro Park Center?

Access to stroke rehab is essential, helping survivors regain lost physical, cognitive and speech functions. As the first facility in New York to achieve Stroke Certification from the AHA, we’re making it easier for stroke survivors to get the kind of rehab they need – right in Boro Park – to prevent long-term complications, maximize independence and improve their outcome.

How We Did It

We’re always grateful for the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of every care team member at BPC that make those positive outcomes happen, but especially this month, during Stroke Awareness month. From nursing to rehab, medical teams to support staff, each department plays a vital role. Attaining our Stroke Rehabilitation Certification required that all of these teams come together every single day to provide a rapid response and top-notch patient care.

Our team at BPC blends their expertise and their commitment to the highest quality patient care to build trust and accountability with their patients but also support long-term recovery goals.

Patients who arrive after life changing strokes, unable to walk, stand, or move an arm or leg leave us weeks later returning home with strength, function, and hope.

Looking Ahead

This certification does not only highlight the immediate response to patient stroke care but also follows the patient’s progress to their recovery milestones. Focusing on patients regaining their independence and maintaining a sustainable recovery is the ultimate goal for our facilities.
