2 South Jersey Organizations Reach Out to Deptford Center For Christmas
Local donations to residents who reside at nursing homes during the holiday season are some of the most beautiful gestures anyone can do. This is exactly what has been happening at Deptford Center on Clements Bridge Road in Deptford, New Jersey as two outstanding organizations did just that.
Angels Community Outreach, an organization that provides clothing, toiletries, food, and more at no cost to those financially in need, is based out of Pitman, New Jersey. They have been a long-time friend to the folks at Deptford Center and to the Deptford community as a whole where they made donations throughout the year, such as flowers on Mother’s Day and Easter baskets on Easter Sunday. Leading up to Christmas this year, Angels Community Outreach donated a large number of necessities in a truckload of 100 Santa Sacks to Deptford Center.
Another group that has been very close to Deptford Center is Sonshine & Smiles, an organization that started operations in West Berlin, New Jersey in September of 2020 where they did one nursing home and made 120 stocking gifts, and now in 2022, they have done five nursing homes and has extended their reach to Western New York State in Buffalo. This group surely does what it preaches, “Bringing Smiles to Seniors One Holiday at a Time” as they donated 200 stockings filled with all kinds of goodies for the residents at Deptford Center. Additionally, Sonshine & Smiles also brightened the holidays for more residents by donating another 500 stockings to four other South Jersey nursing homes in Deptford, Washington Township, Voorhees, and Atco.
“We love both of these incredible organizations,” said Paige Doumenis, Director of Guest Services at Deptford Center. “All of our residents truly loved what they got, some even cried with joy as the real meaning of Christmas was felt here. Thank you so much Angels and Sonshine for your deeply heartfelt gifts.”
