Corning Center on East First Street in Corning, New York, is recognizing the biggest unsung heroes at any healthcare institution, their housekeepers, during National Housekeeping Week (Sept 11–17). This year, they are honoring housekeeper Christine Atkins, who has worked at the 120-bed skilled nursing facility since June 29, 2020. According to Recreation Director Shannon Robertson, “Christine has always gone above and beyond in her job duties by working in a variety of housekeeping roles such as laundry, cleaning of the resident rooms and living units, and working the \"C\" assignment, which includes office cleaning and other evening hour tasks.” Ms. Robertson goes on by saying that Ms. Atkins will often work extra hours, including covering her department when it’s shorthanded. Director of Housekeeping Paula Dunn calls Christine an exceptional worker, a team player who has a friendly demeanor and spreads a positive attitude throughout the building.
