Independence Day at Northern Riverview
It was an all-out Independence Day celebration at Northern Riverview in Haverstraw on July 4th, and the recreation department made sure that the residence was all about patriotism. On that morning, the facility kicked off the day by listening to Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” over the loudspeaker. During the week prior to the 4th of July, the residents worked on July 4th arts and crafts showcasing patriotism. On this morning, however, Northern Riverview’s Recreation Aides delivered a July 4th word search to the residents. Musical Tuesday activities included America-themed music, and then it was time for Chef Rob, who worked the grill, to give the residents and staff a delicious traditional BBQ of hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, and apple pie. After bingo, the residents kept cool with red, white, and blue bomb pop ices. All day, the residents played history trivia related to the holiday and named that tune all over the loudspeaker. Winners won prizes! Finally, to wind down the day, the residents were able to watch the movie “Born on the 4th of July”. Happy holidays from Northern Riverview!
