Centers Cares Results Are In!

In November, Centers Health Care launched its Centers Cares charity initiative. Putting an exclamation point on its year-long celebration of 25 years of leadership in the healthcare community, Centers announced it would make a $2,500 donation to seven nonprofits—one each in the communities it serves—a total of $17,500. Members of the community cast their vote for their favorite charities, and the votes are in!

Here are the nonprofits in each region receiving the donation:

Adirondacks: Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southern Adirondacks
Big Brothers, Big Sisters seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity for the better, forever. They work with youth in communities across Warren, Washington, and northern Saratoga counties.

Buffalo: Senior Wishes
Senior Wishes grants life-enriching wishes to seniors that fulfill a lifelong dream, reconnect someone with a loved one, engage them in a passion from long ago, or just provide them with something they need.

Capital: Things of My Very Own
Things of My Very Own is a lifeline for children fleeing abuse. From providing basic necessities to teaching life skills that instill confidence and self-worth, their services lift fragile children from a place of harm to one of hope.

Downstate NY: Renewal
Renewal helps patients and their families navigate the complex process of kidney transplants, from finding a donor to arranging the transplant and beyond. They also support donors to make sure their self-sacrifice is as simple and safe as it can be.

Kansas: The Lord’s Diner
The Lord’s Diner combats hunger in the community. The Diner’s singular mission is to serve a nutritious meal with dignity and respect to anyone who is hungry.

New Jersey: Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary
Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary has created a home for unwanted farm animals, domesticated animals, and animals with special needs to live out their natural lives.

Rhode Island: Project Hand Up
Project Hand Up provides help to impoverished individuals & their families with food so they do not have to choose between eating and paying bills.

Centers Health Care is committed to making a profound and lasting impact on the communities it serves. By donating to the nonprofits that devote themselves to serving our neighbors, Centers helps to enhance the lives of the children, seniors, and families of the region.

Care. Support. Positive Outcomes. Centers Health Care.

Centers Health Care provides rehabilitation, skilled nursing and long-term care for people with a wide range of needs. Whether someone is recovering from surgery, managing an illness or simply needs more support than can be provided at home, our staff is there to help.

The goal is not exactly the same for everyone. It may be returning home, becoming stronger, staying independent or simply feeling better and more comfortable from one day to the next. There will be progress, setbacks and difficult days along the way. Our job is to be there through all of it, and to help each patient or resident get as far as he or she can.

Sometimes that progress comes in large steps. More often, it comes in small ones. Either way, every step matters.

Our Steps to Home series follows patients through rehabilitation and the journey from hospital to home:
