There were six inches of snow on the ground and six more predicted. Traffic on the Hutchinson River Parkway was backed up all the way to Westchester County. And William had an appointment for dialysis in a half hour. Would he have to cancel? Miss a treatment?

None of the above. Ten minutes before his scheduled treatment, an aide showed up at his door with a wheelchair, wheeled him down the hall and onto an elevator to the onsite Dialysis Center.

As a resident, William never misses a treatment, meal, or therapy session. A chair in the Center was waiting for him. He took a seat, adjusted the heat function slightly, and found a movie to watch on his TV during his treatment.
