Centers Health Care’s Impact in Buffalo
May 18, 2018 – Buffalo New York – Yesterday at Buffalo Center on Delaware Avenue, Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown was invited by Centers Health Care CEO Kenny Rozenberg and spoke to many healthcare leaders located in and around the Buffalo area about the importance of our AARP-aged and 65 and older generation in terms of economics and living longer.
In addition to the Mayor’ speech, MC Phil Haberstro, Executive Director of the Wellness Institute led the afternoon and brought up prominent speakers including Senator Tim Kennedy, as well as a special keynote presentation by Dr. Bruce Troen of the University of Buffalo Center For Successful Aging. The day began with an introduction by Buffalo Center’s Administrator Levi Lazar who gave welcoming remarks and following Dr. Troen, a panel of health experts including Mr. Rozenberg, Brittany Perez, an occupational therapist and Director of Outreach and Engagement at the Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access at the University of Buffalo, Kaleida Health Representative Robin Brown, Dr. Lynn Rivers from D’Youville College and Douglas Ruffin, Director of Division of Senior Affairs. The panel was moderated by Randy Haok of AARP and Timothy Hogues, Commissioner of Senior Services for Erie County. Prominent attendees included Otis T. Barker, Commissioner of Senior Services and Recreational Programming for the City of Buffalo as well as Catherine Shick of the Food Bank of Western New York.
\"Taking care of our seniors here in the city of Buffalo is our main goal,\" said Mr. Rozenberg. \"Between the panels and attendees, everyone brought with them great ideas to how best serve seniors here in this beautiful city of Buffalo. We want dedicated folks working at our two Buffalo facilities who strive to make these want these seniors feel at home.\"
The attendees broke into brainstorming sessions where they focused on different areas of aging including transportation, health factors and various ways to improve the quality of life for Buffalo’s seniors.
\"My goal for the Age Friendly Senior Health Symposium is to connect those who serve Buffalo’s oldest adults and, with your input, develop recommendations for the City of Buffalo to review that further improves the quality of life for our vibrant and active senior community,\" said Mayor Brown.
