Amsterdam Nursing Home Observes Alzheimer’s Day

Staff here at the 409-bed skilled nursing facility Amsterdam Nursing Home in Morningside Heights observed World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21 by wearing purple to recognize the more than six million Americans of all ages who have been diagnosed with the disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. An estimated 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with the disease in 2023. 73 percent are age 75 or older and nearly one in nine people age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s. Across the globe, 50 million are living with the disease.
