Residents at Slate Valley Center, the cozy 88-bed skilled nursing facility on State Route 40 in Granville, on Nov. 27, welcomed the return of the Adirondacks and Capital Region Elvis Presley impersonator, Bruce Stewart, to perform for the residents and staff.

With the female residents expressing their love to Elvis by calling out to Stewart asking for certain favorite Elvis songs, he fully honored their requests by rocking with \"Jailhouse Rock,\" \"Hound Dog\" and \"Don’t Be Cruel,\" plus doing ballads such as \"Love Me Tender,\" \"Can’t Help Falling in Love\" and \"Suspicious Minds,\" as he sang up close with the residents.

Additionally for the holiday season, Stewart also included in his set some Christmas favorites from The King including, \"Blue Christmas,\" \"Silver Bells\" and \"Silent Night.\"

Blaze, his wife, who tours with Stewart, was dressed as Mrs. Santa Claus, but this time around she couldn’t dance with the residents like she always does due to a broken foot. Nevertheless, she brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

\"You always have to book Bruce way in advance since he’s always in so demand,\" said Slate Valley Center Recreation Director Bailey Greenough. \"This show was such a home run since the spirit of the holidays are here and the residents have been in great spirits this year. Too bad Blaze couldn’t dance this time around but I’m hoping she’ll be fully healed the next time they perform for our residents again.\"

Some of the residents are diehard Elvis fans, especially 85-year-old Antoinette Kelly from Whitehall, who made sure she brought her green teddy bear to the show, all because of the Elvis 1957 hit \"(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear.\"

In addition to the performance, Stewart and Blaze gifted the residents candy canes, and handed out stuffed snowmen and elves.
