Shavuot: Celebrating the Giving of the Torah and the Spring Harvest at Northern Metropolitan

The Jewish spring harvest holiday that commemorates the day God have the Israelites the Torah on Mount Sinai, Shavuot, is being celebrated this week from May 25 to May 27 at Northern Metropolitan on Maple Avenue in Monsey with the giving and decorating of flowers. The holiday which also means “The Feast of Weeks”, has also an agricultural significance whereby the custom calls for the decoration of greens and fresh flowers due to the spring harvest, tying it in with the ancient stories of the first fruits being brought to the temple. Shavuot occurs every year, seven weeks after Passover, according to the Bible.
