Holliswood Woman Celebrates 103rd Birthday

Corinne Johnson, a resident at the Holliswood Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare celebrated her 103rd birthday last Friday. Faculty and family stopped by to surprise Johnson with a birthday celebration complete with cake, music, food and smiles.

Johnson, who was born in 1913, told the Press of Southeast Queens that she not only “felt great” but looks forward to “seeing 115.” Shortly after cutting her strawberry cream cake, she led everyone who attended the party in a sing-along rendition of gospel classic, “Jesus Makes Me Feel So Good,” and even danced a bit to Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday.”

Johnson’s second youngest son, Cliff Johnson was there to celebrate along with his mother. He said that he’s watched his mother be vibrant and healthy for as long as he can remember. “She was always a good mother,” Cliff said. “She always did the best she could and was always healthy.”

When asked what her secret to staying healthy was, Johnson said that the secret wasn’t in her diet or exercise habits but instead in her faith.

“God in Heaven has helped me live this long,” she said.
